Rejection is something which we are not taught to accept and tackle in society!!!
A warm welcome to you all back to something which is worth reading. Something very serious which can’t be ignored more. Without rolling up the things let’s get straight to the topic, which you might have guessed off. Ya, today I’m going to talk about Depression.
What is depression?
The very first thing which cross our mind is, what is this exactly. Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a person’s ability to function at work and at home.
Basically, if I conclude then it is feeling of loneliness not aloneness and everything which we feel or do are side effects of this.
What hurts more, when parents don’t understand or when friends?
It is clearly visible that when parents don’t understand our situation then it’s hurts more or should say it makes one shatters down. According to me, when your special one, it might be parents , friends or someone else depending on you don’t understand your feelings then it hurts much. Just try to talk and ask them to help you out.
Is being alone is peace or frustration?
It mostly depend upon situation. As Swami Vivekananda said, ‘Talk to yourself atleast once in a day, otherwise you may miss a meeting with an Excellent person in this world’. So if we are solitude then it’s peace as you can introspect yourself leaving behind hustle and bustle of daily life for something better but if it’s not chosen then it is frustration. As then your mind will pass negative thoughts every second which will lead you towards destruction. So if you are facing this then avoid and try to be more involved with your person.
Why most of people refuses to open up their thoughts?
For many people’s it is pistanthrophobia (fear of trusting people) and for some it’s “Log kya kahenge” or hesitation to speak as they might be judged. Generally the one thinks that their is no one to understand his/her feelings, they will make fun or exclude them from their company.
If you find someone in this situation, what will you do?
Depression doesn’t have expression. It sucks person’s word. So don’t go and ask straightly like hey, you are in depression so tell me what happened? If you’ll ask like this if he/she wanted to speak then also definitely they will not. Try to sit by side and provide cosy environment. Talk about yourself , daily routine and roll up things. Ask for hang outs and start analysing his/her discomfort zone. After a long chit-chat ask them softly and then if needed go for psychiatric. Most importantly, make him/her feel special and never leave them alone. I repeat never.
Reasons for depression
‘ The life is not always about failure, we mainly focus on what we don’t have not on what we have’, from a novel Wake up Life is Calling by Preeti Shenoy. It’s the best line which describes the main reason. So it’s totally depends on our perspective of seeing things around. Sometimes a small thing traceback alot pressure and sometimes they don’t effect at all. It’s like dedication for doing something if it’s done then all good if not then we have to face same range of failure. If you adore your success then always learn how to count your odds.
Some Real Cases:
The woman behind Harry Potter brought joy to millions, but admits she felt despair while writing the magical novels. Her dark moods even inspired her series’ soul-sucking creatures known as Dementors. “It’s so difficult to describe [depression] to someone who’s never been there, because it’s not sadness,” she told Oprah Winfrey in 2010. “But it’s that cold absence of feeling — that really hollowed-out feeling.”
I thought it was stress, so I tried to distract myself by focusing on work, and surrounding myself with people, which helped for a while. But the nagging feeling didn’t go away. My breath was shallow, I suffered from lack of concentration and I broke down often, said Deepika.
Lady Gaga, Ileana D’Cruz, Buzz Aldrin, Dwayne Johnson, Anushka Sharma, Eminem, Chris Evans, and many more are their to add on in this list.
Before writing this blog I did my mini survey and googled a lot to take everyone’s opinion. And now I can say, mental illness is something where we Indians need to have revolutionary change. As in country like India, opening up about mental illness is something where society starts offending you and is not considered worthy of attention. One in twenty Indians now suffer from depression, as per survey of National Mental Health. It’s a great issue, raise up your voice and mark everyone’s attention over it. It’s not like you have to only look up and care for someone who is suffering, no you have to talk with everyone you know. If someone shares something don’t ignore try to solve it. Your life at digital platform is ok but don’t ruin your privacy and relationship for that. And yes, “It’s OK to not be OK“.
This is very vast topic to be covered. I tried to cover many things but in case if you feel that I should have enlighten more on some points. So please tell me in comment section, I’ll try to work on that too.
A big thanks to everyone who has participated and ya, Love to all!!!
